In-home Lactation Consultation

Welcome

I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Elysia Mason—a mother, Registered Nurse, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I provide compassionate, personalized breastfeeding support through in-home and virtual lactation consultations. It’s an honor to walk alongside families during one of life’s most personal and powerful experiences: feeding your baby.

Whether you're a first-time parent learning to navigate those first latches or an experienced parent encountering new challenges, you deserve care that is evidence-based, compassionate, and judgment-free. No two feeding journeys are the same—and I’m here to honor yours with expertise, empathy, and respect.

I provide in-home lactation consultations, including prenatal visits, initial newborn feeding assessments, and follow-up breastfeeding consultation and support—all in the comfort of your home. Virtual lactation appointments via Zoom are also available by request. As a certified IBCLC, I offer personalized, compassionate care for latching issues, milk supply concerns, pumping, combo feeding and more. Serving Charleston, SC—including Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms, and Sullivan’s Island—I provide evidence-based, judgment-free breastfeeding support for new and experienced parents. From first latch to weaning, however your feeding journey unfolds, I’m here to provide empathetic and supportive, informed care.

-Elysia

  • I am a mother, a nurturer, a lifelong learner—a Registered Nurse and an IBCLC. But more than anything, I’m someone who knows what it feels like to be overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure… while holding a tiny new life in your arms.

My journey into lactation support began in the quiet hours of the night—fumbling with swaddles, second-guessing every decision, and wondering if I wasdoing it right. I had questions—so many questions—and I didn’t always know where to turn. What I needed most in those early days wasn’t just information. I needed reassurance. I needed someone to sit beside me without judgment, to witness my experience, and to gently say, “You’re doing a great job.”

    That’s what lit the spark.

I became an IBCLC not just to help babies feed—but to help parents feel seen, supported, and empowered. To hold space for the joy, the fear, the learning curve, and the fierce love that comes with feeding your babyhowever that journey looks.

I welcome all families—first-time or experienced, biological or adoptive, LGBTQ+ or straight, solo or partnered. Every feeding story is valid, and every parent deserves care that honors their identity, values, and goals- because lactation care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s personal. It’s intimate. It’s deeply human.

    With care,
    Elysia

What about insurance?

At this time, I do not bill insurance directly. However, I am happy to provide a superbill—a detailed receipt containing the necessary codes and documentation—that you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

  • Direct insurance billing can limit the flexibility and personalization of care. By remaining out-of-network, I’m able to spend more time with each family, provide care tailored to your needs, and offer a higher standard of one-on-one support—without being constrained by insurance restrictions.

  • A superbill is a medical receipt that includes the following information:

    • My NPI (National Provider Identifier) number

    • ICD-10 diagnosis codes

    • CPT codes

    • Date and type of service provided

    • Service fees paid

You can submit the superbill to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Many plans do reimburse for lactation services, especially under the Affordable Care Act, which requires most plans to cover lactation support from an IBCLC. However, coverage varies based on your individual plan.

Before your appointment, consider calling your insurance provider and asking:

    • “Do you reimburse for out-of-network lactation consultations provided by an IBCLC?”

    • “Are there any restrictions on who can provide these services or how they are delivered (e.g., home visits, virtual visits)?”

    • “What documentation do you require for reimbursement?”

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept Venmo, Zelle, Check or Cash.
